This seems to validate Socialize's ad network strategy. http://www.clickz.com/clickz/news/2240315/mma-forum-urban-airship-cmo-throws-support-behind-apple-passbook "Urban Airship recently started to heavily invest in Passbook. The firm bought marketing firm Tello last year. Tello is the creator of a platform called PassTools that allows companies to create a Passbook pass without having to write code.
The company's chief marketing officer believes that Passbook can rejuvenate the coupon marketing strategy. In his presentation he called out coupons as one of the least effective forms of marketing. He based that belief on the manual nature of coupons."

"With the proliferation of tablets, smartphones and corresponding apps and mobile websites, mobile ad unit inventory is varied, complex and constantly growing. For creative shops, this has meant a difficulty in devising campaigns engineered to run on a myriad of devices. Publishers, likewise, have been left with painfully low CPM rates for mobile ads even as consumption on mobile devices has increased.
The Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) and the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) are hoping to change that by imposing a new set of industry guidelines. The two groups released the "Mobile Phone Creative Guidelines" on Friday in order to help standardize mobile advertising industry-wide.
Yeah yeah ... I saw this: http://danielodio.com/socialcam-is-magical And, I can give a LITTLE bit of an advantage to the fact that SocialCam will actually add the source video files to your various other social profiles. But, I think the limitations far outweigh some small advantages.
P.S. - Fun Story. I first installed SocialCam at SxSW 2011 and was using it at the ACLU 80's Party that I met you guys at in Austin that night. At one point, I was recording people getting their hair teased up with hairspray and a young guy taps me on the shoulder and excitedly says, "I MADE THAT! How do you like it?!!" He handed me a bunch of SocialCam stickers and I told him my impressions to that point. Wander if he's still with SocialCam ... I'd send him a link to this post! =)

In doing research for a post on “The Enterprise Cool Kids” at the tail end of last year, I interviewed Silicon Valley veteran Marc Andreessen about where he thought the enterprise was headed.
While excerpts of that interview made it into the post, the transcript of the entire interview was so good it deserved to be published in its entirety.

Mike Michalowicz has a short & sweet, though insightful post about operating his business from a shelter after Hurricane "Sandra" knocked him out of power/internet for over a week:
Here’s what I’ve learned:
Be prepared for anything that can go wrong, will go wrong. I had set up the whole family in the basement to sleep, had fueled up on food, and gas and made sure the generator was working before the hurricane arrived. We were prepared and rocking—but not for long. As prepared as we were, the outages lasted more than a week and we ran out of everything, gas, food, heat, cell charges, and, as embarrassing as it is to admit, beer. It was off to the shelter for us.
When deciding whether to read or delete an email, our brains go through this common evaluation process:
1. Who is emailing me (and is this spam)?2. What do they want?3. How long will this take?
I thought I'd do some "testing" of SETT by posting in the new Community section ... so this is it! Couple other quick observations after reading/commenting a couple times .... * When commenting, I was given the option to "Register" or just comment with my details attached. (AWESOME not being FORCED to register!) - However, it didn't seem like I could register by just authorizing via Facebook or Twitter connections. (i know Twitter's getting all Nazi-like with their API so this might not even be an option going forward) * By entering my "everywhere" email address with my comment, it appears I have a persistent "profile" here at the site now. Cool enough! One question though: It's pulling in a profile image automatically that I did not designate. It looks like it's coming from Facebook but maybe my WordPress/Gravatar account?? Can't tell and that should be made more transparent to the user. * Just edited my Profile page on my account. When I click "Update Settings" the ONLY visual confirmation that it even registered the *click* is way up in the SETT tool-bar up top and it's just text that flashes for a second. I clicked "Update Settings" three times before I noticed that out of the corner of my vision. Something needs to be added near the "Update Settings" button to confirm to the user it worked. * After commenting on a post, I was sent an email alerting me to a new reply/comment. Not sure if I checked the "alert me to replies" box or not. I think I did because I was curious to see the UX associated with that. The email From Name was "SETT" and From Email was notifications@sett.com via amazonses.com ... you should check with Tynan to see if you can better personalize any of that. At LEAST the From Name should be DanielOdio.com or something to that affect. * Just an FYI, I noticed that most of your posts have user/SEO-friendly permalinks ... but some of them are "danielodio.com/uid/########" ... you should look into that. Google gives a lot of JUICE to the text in the URL. That's all I've got for now .... still can't ever imagine recommending to a client anything besides WordPress and the surrounding development community for a project like this, but I'm still a sucker for an underdog so I'll continue to watch and engage to see how this works out for you! Anyone else here have other ideas/observations/hacks/tweaks?? JeremyCee
